2. The Bell Tower, Treasury of St. James

Just like the original it was modelled on – the campanile in Italy – an incomplete, 45-metre high four-storey tower stands next to the cathedral, which, according to its architects, was meant to reach hundreds of metres. The largest bell was James, weighing 8200 kg, and was one of the largest bells in Silesia. In the reconstructed interior, which burnt down during World War II, the Treasury of St. James was created. The modern structure made of glass and steel is appropriately complemented by the precious treasury collections – gold and silver crosses, monstrances, reliquaries, and liturgical vessels. One extremely valuable monument is the gilded urn with the heart of Bishop Charles of Austria.
